So we recently took a camping trip and LOVED every minute of it. The one thing I have learned is to not tell the boys a week ahead of time! I was reminded every minute I was with them and asked every morning if we were going camping that day. We had a lot of fun and wanted to share a little with you!

They were both very eager to help...

And then relax...

They would have probably had better luck if they did not have a two year old throwing rocks in the lake!

Kaden: (Playing with a small red lazer light, shining on the seat of the car) Mama, what planet does this make?

Mama:  Well, it is small so maybe Pluto, but it is small and red so maybe Mars.   (Feeling like the wise mother who still knows everything to a four year old).

Kaden:  Mama, (rather matter of factly), um it cannot possibly be Pluto because Pluto is blue and it is not even a planet!

Mama: (Holding her head down in shame) Oh.  :{

Goin on a bug hunt...

Being in Texas gives us the great advantage of an early spring.  We have beautiful wildflowers and great mild weather, the problem is that it does not last long before it turns into myserable 100+degrees.  Because of this we have been trying very hard to soak in all the wonderful smells, sights, and sounds of spring.  On this particular day we decided to go on a bug hunt.  bug book, check; binoculars, check; magnifying glass, check; bug jar; double check; and of course we couldn't forget our ranger vests (for picture appeal of course).  Off we went...

Ahhh, our first specimen, we never found this little guy in the bug book but he was some kind of flying insect...
We passed some friends who were collecting a big bouquet of beautiful wildflowers...

Mmmmmm...

A beautiful field of wildflowers...

our next specimen, a bumble bee (we couldn't quit get this little booger in the jar)...

how many legs does the spider have?...

Jackpot!

And last but not least, a well thought out bouquet picked by a loving four year old.

Our newest addition!

So we recently received a new addition to the Riggs' family (no, not a baby...smartasses) a new puppy!  Her name is Kenya and she is a very loveable, tollerant, german sheppard mix I found at the shelter!  We (well, most of us ahem) are very excited to welcome her to her new home!
I know, sooo cute!

Are we having fun yet?
She is a very good sport!

Easter

Easter was a lot of fun for everyone! We began the day with waking up to filled easter baskets which contained: a new book, some homemade playdough, some new gardening tools, and some sidewalk chalk. The boys got right to the playdough.

We then headed to Fort Worth to Nathan's Aunts house for a great Easter meal and a fun and exciting easter egg hunt!  The boys always love going to Ashley's house!

Blog fix

People have been complaining that they have been unable to post comments. I believe I fixed this so please comment on this post if you are able so I know for sure. Thanks :)

Robin's nest

I stumbled upon this cute recipe I quickly wanted to share with everyone.

1 package marshmallows
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup peanut butter (this is not in recipe but is a very yummy addition)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
4 cups corn flakes
1/2 package robin's eggs candy
Mix marshmallows, butter, pbutter, vanilla, almond extract on medium heat stiring constantly until marshmallows are all melted.
Take off heat and mix in corn flakes until covered.
cover cookie sheet with foil then grease pan.
shape mixture into nests then add eggs on top.
Makes about 12 nests.
Enjoy!
